Suspected Armed Robber Lynched by Mob in Lagos

A reported robber, Saidu Sinah, also known as "Ojubitin," was lynched to death by a mob in the Agege suburb of Lagos during the weekend. Sinah and his group allegedly invaded commuters in the early morning hours, armed with deadly weapons, one of which was a dagger, and snatched several phones from the victims.

The incident occurred close to 6:30 a.m. yesterday, on the AP petrol station junction. With the fear of the robbers, some fearless passengers approached them, and in the scuffle ensuing, Sinah was subdued by the mob and roughly pummelled before they ran off when they saw the police.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, while stating that Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Isokoko sent officers to the scene. Upon arrival, the police found the suspect on the ground, seriously wounded. He was rushed to a clinic nearby, where he died of injuries and was later certified dead.

Before he died, Sinah and his gang allegedly stabbed a middle-aged woman during their robbery spree, stealing her phone and some undisclosed amounts of money. The woman is currently receiving treatment at the same medical facility where the suspect was admitted.

The DPO and his personnel visited the hospital to interrogate the woman and photograph the corpse of the dead for investigative purposes. The Lagos State Health and Monitoring Unit has relocated the dead body to the public mortuary.

The police are continuing their efforts to arrest the remaining gang members of Sinah, who fled from the scene.
